Collection Lasting Perfection Ultra Cover Concealer // The August Review

Time for makeup loves this month’s August Review, and we’re kicking things off with a true OG brand: Collection. If you grew up in the UK, chances are you’ve tried at least one of their cult favourites.

Collection has always had a reputation for delivering budget-friendly makeup that doesn’t compromise on quality, and I wanted to see if their latest releases still live up to the hype.

A tall, slim, clear tube of Collection’s Lasting Perfection Ultra Cover Concealer. The cap is white with bold, peach-toned “ULTRA” lettering stamped around it. The transparent body reveals a pale, cool-toned concealer in the shade 1C Rose Porcelain Cool. The brand name “Collection” appears near the top, with “Lasting Perfection Ultra Cover Concealer” printed in sleek black font below.

The brand describes the product as:

“Meet the ultimate solution for long-lasting, buildable coverage with our Lasting Perfection Ultra Cover Concealer. Designed to provide a flawless finish and give a blurred effect to the skin, this long-lasting formula ensures a crease-proof, seamless application, whilst making pores look less visible. Infused with skin-loving ingredients, Hyaluronic Acid and Jojoba Seed Oil, this water-resistant concealer not only lifts and brightens, but also guarantees easy, precise application with the XL doe-foot applicator. Say goodbye to transfer drama and hello to a next-level finish that stays all day and all night.”

Pros:

  • Affordable.
  • Has a great colour range. But I have found the high street doesn’t stock all the shades. Go directly to the brand website.
  • Medium to full coverage.
  • Good application with a brush or sponge.
  • Sweat proof.
  • Creamy texture.

Cons:

  • Not the biggest fan of the doe foot applicator as it isn’t as sanitary.

The Verdict:

I really like this concealer. I wouldn’t describe it as full coverage straight out of the tube. It leans more towards a medium-to-full coverage finish, which makes it versatile depending on how much you build it up. I find it works best with a sponge, especially when I’m covering larger areas, as it blends out seamlessly without looking heavy. For spot concealing, I use a brush, and it layers well without leaving noticeable brush marks, which is a big plus.

Another thing I appreciate is the shade range. There’s a really good selection that caters to different undertones, which isn’t always the case with concealers. However, I’ve noticed that not all retailers, like Boots, carry the full range in-store. That’s a bit disappointing, because it limits accessibility. Especially if you need a specific shade that isn’t one of the more commonly stocked ones.

The only downside for me is the doe-foot applicator. While it’s easy to use, it isn’t the most sanitary option. Particularly if you’re applying the product directly onto breakouts. I’d recommend dabbing it onto a brush or sponge first if that’s a concern.

Overall, though, this concealer performs really well and ticks most of the boxes for me. It’s reliable, blends beautifully, and offers enough flexibility in coverage for both everyday wear and a more night out look.
