  • A dark, illuminated image featuring two carved jack-o'-lanterns placed side by side on a flat surface. The pumpkin on the left is carved with a silhouette of a figure wearing a fedora-like hat and holding an object, resembling a cartoon bird or duck. The pumpkin on the right is carved with a stylized, wide-grinning cat face, likely the Cheshire Cat, with intense eyes and sharp teeth. Both carvings are glowing with a warm orange light.

Why Halloween Feels Different As An Adult

  • This is a vertical image, styled to look like a strip of vintage film negatives, featuring three different makeup looks inspired by dolls. The left side of the image features the title "Dolls // Creator Edition" in white, stylized font, placed over a dark, textured background. The three makeup looks are presented in stacked, rectangular frames: Top Look (Frame 1): A close-up of a person with blonde hair wearing very vibrant, "girly" makeup, likely inspired by a fashion doll or pop-culture figure. The look features bright pink eyeshadow blended up to the brow, dark winged eyeliner, and shiny, hot-pink lip gloss. The person is holding a pink mobile phone up to their ear and is looking off to the side with a bright expression. Middle Look (Frame 2): A person with straight, platinum blonde hair wearing a highly detailed cracked porcelain doll or zombie doll makeup. The skin is painted a pale white, and dark, intricate lines are drawn across the face and neck to simulate shattered ceramic or decay. The eyes are entirely blackened with heavy, dark shadow to create a hollow, unsettling effect. Bottom Look (Frame 3): A close-up of a person wearing a stitched-up ragdoll or voodoo doll makeup look. The face is painted with a coarse, burlap-like texture. The eyes are covered with large, white, button-like contacts or paint, each featuring a large black 'X' over the pupil. A wide, stitched-up smile is painted across the mouth, mimicking the seams of a fabric doll, complete with small black stitches. The person has short, black, spiked hair and what appears to be piercings around the mouth.

Today marks my 12th year recognising World IBD Day Today marks my 12th year recognising World IBD Day whilst living with IBDโ€ฆ but this year, I found myself asking a question I never thought I would.

Do I actually still have IBD?

After 3 surgeries, having everything from the ileum down removed and now living with a stoma, my Ulcerative Colitis is no longer active. Thereโ€™s nowhere left for the disease to flare in the way it once didโ€ฆ so where does that leave me?

Am I someone who had IBD? Or am I still someone living with it?

In todayโ€™s blog post, I wanted to explore that question because IBD is so much more than just a bowel disease. Even without active disease, I still live with the effects it left behind.

A stoma gave me my quality of life back after years of immense pain and failed treatments, but it isnโ€™t a cure. Itโ€™s a management route with its own ups and downs.

Iโ€™d love to know if anyone else with a stoma has ever questioned where they fit within the IBD community now ๐Ÿ’œ
