  • The book cover for Across the Vanishing Sky by Catherine Cowles, the first book in the Starlight Grove series, features a dramatic, layered landscape in shades of deep purple and vibrant pink. It depicts the silhouettes of a coniferous forest and mountains under a cloudy, sunset sky. The title is written in large, white, hand-drawn script across the center, surrounded by small silhouettes of birds in flight. A blurb at the bottom by Ana Huang describes it as "an addictive small-town romance with a thriller twist."

  • The book cover for "One Golden Summer" by Carley Fortune features a vibrant, painterly illustration of a bright yellow motorboat speeding across deep blue water, leaving a white, frothy wake. Inside the boat, two figures—a woman with reddish hair and a shirtless man—are seen from behind, heading toward a distant, dark shoreline under a sunset sky streaked with lavender, pink, and orange. The author’s name, "Carley Fortune," is written in large, bold white sans-serif letters at the top, while the title "One Golden Summer" is layered over the water in a matching, heavy-weight font in bright yellow. A thin black banner across the middle identifies the author as a "NUMBER ONE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER," and a quote at the bottom from Annabel Monaghan describes Fortune as "the master of the love story."

Today marks my 12th year recognising World IBD Day Today marks my 12th year recognising World IBD Day whilst living with IBD… but this year, I found myself asking a question I never thought I would.

Do I actually still have IBD?

After 3 surgeries, having everything from the ileum down removed and now living with a stoma, my Ulcerative Colitis is no longer active. There’s nowhere left for the disease to flare in the way it once did… so where does that leave me?

Am I someone who had IBD? Or am I still someone living with it?

In today’s blog post, I wanted to explore that question because IBD is so much more than just a bowel disease. Even without active disease, I still live with the effects it left behind.

A stoma gave me my quality of life back after years of immense pain and failed treatments, but it isn’t a cure. It’s a management route with its own ups and downs.

I’d love to know if anyone else with a stoma has ever questioned where they fit within the IBD community now 💜
