Matrix Total Results InstaCure Anti-Breakage Shampoo and Conditioner // The August Review
After discovering how much I enjoyed the Matrix Total Results High Amplify range, I had to delve a little deeper into the Matrix brand and see what else they had to offer. And that’s how I ended up trying the Matrix Total Results InstaCure Anti-Breakage Shampoo & Conditioner.
This range is aimed at damaged, dry and brittle hair, so it takes a slightly different approach. This one is all about giving your hair a little more nourishment and care.

The brand describes the product duo as:
“Created with coloured and chemically-treated hair in mind, the Matrix Instacure Duo seeks to minimise the risk of breakages and enhance hair’s smoothness and vibrancy.
InstaCure Anti-Breakage Shampoo: Fortified with liquid proteins, the shampoo helps to minimise the risk of breakages and split ends. The nourishing formula gently removes build-up, helping to promote sleek results and prime hair for subsequent products.
InstaCure Anti-Breakage Conditioner: A nourishing and detangling conditioner designed for dry, brittle hair prone to damage. Infused with liquid proteins, the formula helps to minimise the risk of breakage while improving hair’s manageability.”
Pros:
- Both leave my hair feeling nourished and cared for.
- The conditioner gives my hair a lovely shine.
- Hair feels softer and smoother after using it.
- The conditioner feels particularly nourishing on the lengths and ends.
- Helps make my hair feel more manageable.
- The shampoo cleanses away build-up without being overly harsh.
- The conditioner feels more substantial than some I’ve used, which works well when my hair needs a little extra nourishment.
- Great option for hair that feels dry, brittle or damaged.
Cons:
- The conditioner is quite thick. You need to work it through the hair properly rather than just quickly applying and rinsing.
- It needs to be rinsed thoroughly; otherwise, the richer formula can feel like it’s still sitting in the hair.
- It is more time consuming to use.
The Verdict:
I really enjoyed using the Matrix Total Results InstaCure Anti-Breakage Shampoo & Conditioner, although for me it doesn’t quite beat the High Amplify duo I reviewed previously. This is definitely the set I’d reach for when my hair needs a little more nourishment and TLC rather than a routine shampoo and conditioner.
The conditioner is the standout for me. It has a much thicker consistency than some of the other conditioners I’ve tried, so you do need to spend a little more time working it through your hair and making sure you rinse it properly. But that extra effort is worth it because my hair feels beautifully nourished afterwards, and I’ve noticed a much better shine than with some other conditioners I’ve used.
The shampoo is lovely too. It does what I want a shampoo to do; cleans my hair and removes build-up while leaving it feeling fresh and ready for conditioner.
My biggest criticism is also the love of this product, the thickness of the conditioner. If you’re someone who wants to do a quick rinse and get out of the shower, or has longer hair, this might require a little more patience! But if your hair is feeling dry or damaged, that richer consistency is actually one of the things I like about it.
Overall, this is a good haircare duo that leaves my hair feeling soft, nourished and noticeably shinier. I’d particularly recommend it if you have time and your priority is caring for dry or damaged hair.
