Ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil // The August Review

Expanding into Korean skincare can lead to some brilliant discoveries, but sometimes those standout products come with a higher price tag. The Ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil is one of those products that’s earned cult status for a reason, so I was keen to see if it really lived up to the hype. After putting it through its paces, here’s what I thought.

A product shot of a clear cylindrical bottle filled with translucent, golden-yellow liquid, featuring a white pump dispenser. The bottle's label has a white top section printed with the red brand logo ma:nyo and the tagline "endless hunger for ingredients", above a soft yellow lower section that displays the product title Pure Cleansing Oil and "Nourishing & Refresh". The bottle rests centrally on a vibrant pastel yellow backdrop, framed by glossy, dynamic splashes of oil fanning out around it.

Ma:nyo Pure Cleansing Oil – RRP £21.00

The brand describes the product as:

“A true K-beauty icon and 16-time award winner, MANYO’s Pure Cleansing Oil has earned cult status for its ability to deliver a deep yet featherlight cleanse that suits every skin type – even the most sensitive and acne-prone. This best-selling oil is dermatologically tested, non-comedogenic, and beloved for how effortlessly it melts away waterproof makeup, sunscreen, blackheads, and daily impurities while keeping the skin barrier strong and balanced.

The secret lies in its 14 plant-derived oils, which work in perfect harmony to purify, nourish, and protect. Soybean Oil and Argan Seed Oil dissolve excess sebum and pore waste, sweeping away buildup without stripping the skin. Meanwhile, antioxidant-rich Rice Bran Oil helps to gently exfoliate dead skin cells while strengthening skin resilience against environmental stressors. The result is skin that feels refreshed, clarified, and supple after every cleanse.”

Pros:

  • Lightweight, non-greasy formula.
  • Removes makeup effortlessly, including waterproof eye makeup.
  • Deep cleanses and helps unclog pores.
  • Leaves skin feeling smoother and looking brighter.
  • Gentle on sensitive skin and didn’t irritate my redness.
  • A little goes a long way.

Cons:

  • Higher RRP than many other cleansing oils.
  • Can be a little messy during application.
  • Often difficult to find in stock because it’s so popular.

The Verdict:

I’ve tried a fair few oil cleansers over the years, but this has quickly become a go-to. It feels lightweight rather than greasy and starts breaking down makeup the moment it touches dry skin. Even stubborn waterproof eye makeup melts away with very little effort. It leaves my skin feeling thoroughly cleansed without any heavy residue.

A little goes a long way, so one bottle lasts longer than you might expect. Since using it, I’ve noticed a smoother, brighter-looking complexion and clearer pores. And it hasn’t aggravated my redness at all, which is always a huge bonus. The consistency is easy to massage into the skin, although it can get a little messy during application.

The only real downside is the price. The RRP is on the higher side, although it’s often discounted if you can find it in stock. Its popularity means it regularly sells out, but if you spot it on offer, it’s well worth picking up.

My Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5 Stars)
