COLOR WOW Insta-Wow // The August Review
Moving away from skincare, we’re heading into the haircare section of The August Review! I’ve tried a few hair products this year, but there are some that have really stood out and earned a permanent place in my routine.
First up is the COLOR WOW Travel Insta-Wow, a dry shampoo that has genuinely surprised me. I’ve tried plenty of dry shampoos over the years, but I’m always looking for one that doesn’t leave my hair feeling heavy, powdery or like I’ve obviously sprayed something into it.

COLOR WOW Insta-Wow (Travel Size) – RRP £15.00
The brand describes the product as:
“Need a quick hair fix? Enter the Color Wow Insta-Wow, an advanced formula that redefines the meaning of dry shampoo. Suitable for all hair types and colours, the next-generation formula refreshes lacklustre lengths in an instant, dissolving oil into micro-droplets, while ultra-fine starches absorb it – no added weight or white residue in sight.
Keeping your hair cleaner for longer, the dry shampoo is powered by proprietary Active Cleansing Technology to extend your hair’s freshness and preserve your styles. Its deodorising blend imparts a crisp floral scent for long-lasting freshness.”
Pros:
- It feels like I have no product in my hair.
- Tames flyaways.
- Leaves my hair feeling fresh without making it feel heavy or coated.
- Has a lovely smell.
- No obvious white cast when you apply it from the recommended distance.
- Doesn’t leave my hair feeling gritty or powdery.
Cons:
- On the priceier side. At £15 for 60ml, it isn’t the cheapest dry shampoo out there.
The Verdict:
I absolutely love how this feels in my hair. It genuinely feels like I don’t have any product in my hair, which is something I don’t think I’ve experienced with many dry shampoos. There’s no heavy, gritty or powdery feeling, and it doesn’t leave my hair feeling like I’ve just covered it in product to disguise the fact that it needs washing.
I also really like the smell. A lot of dry shampoos have that very obvious, slightly chemical scent, whereas this has a much nicer fragrance.
It also does a great job of taming flyaways, which is a lovely bonus. And, when you follow the instructions and spray it from the recommended distance, I haven’t experienced the dreaded white cast either.
My only real negative is the price. The 60ml travel size is currently £15, so this definitely isn’t a budget dry shampoo. That’s actually why I bought the travel size in the first place; I wanted to try it without committing to the larger can.
But despite the price, I really love this product. If you’re someone who normally hates the feeling of dry shampoo in your hair, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a go.
My Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5 Stars)
