Bath & Body Works Shower Gel // The August Review
Moving on from haircare, we’re heading into body care for the next instalment of The August Review. This time, I’ve been indulging in some rather pretty bottles from Bath & Body Works.
I picked up a few of the Princess shower gels because apparently I’m incapable of walking away from anything with a Disney Princess on it! And I also couldn’t resist trying the Cherry Blossom scent.
Bath & Body Works Shower Gel – RRP £16.00
The brand describes the product as:
“What it does: gently cleanses your skin with a rich, bubbly lather. Why you’ll love it: Infused with the good stuff (pro-vitamins B5 and aloe). Gentle and non-drying. Made without sulfates or parabens. Dermatologist-tested. Bottle made with 50% recycled plastic.“
Pros:
- A little goes a long way.
- They lather really, really well.
- Leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. I haven’t experienced any breakouts or issues with my skin while using them.
- The fragrance lasts longer on my skin than other shower gels I’ve tried.
- The scents I chose have all been lovely without being overpowering.
- There are loads of different fragrances to choose from.
- I love being able to match the shower gel with a body mist or body cream in the same scent.
Cons:
- The price. At £16 for 295ml at full price, they’re considerably more expensive than many everyday shower gels.
The Verdict:
I loved the Bath & Body Works shower gels. I went into this having bought a few of the Princess ones and the Cherry Blossom, so I’ve had the opportunity to try them across different scents rather than basing my opinion on just one bottle.
The first thing that really stood out to me was how little product you need. These shower gels lather so well that you don’t need much. That helps take a little of the sting out of the price, because one bottle lasts longer.
But for me, the scents are the real selling point. The ones I’ve picked have all been lovely without being too strong, and I’ve noticed that the fragrance lingers on my skin for longer than some of the other shower gels I’ve used.
I also absolutely love that you can layer the same fragrance. Bath & Body Works sells matching products such as body creams and body mists, so you can build the scent throughout your routine and make it last longer.
My biggest negative is, unsurprisingly, the price. At £16.00 for a 295ml shower gel at full price, these are definitely more expensive than the shower gels I’d usually pick up. But Bath & Body Works does regularly have offers, and given how little product you need, I think they’re much more tempting when you can get them discounted.
Overall, I think these are a lovely little luxury. Do you need to spend this much on a shower gel? Absolutely not. But when on offer, I think they’re worth trying.
