A Christmas Hamper Guide For… Book Hoarders

A book hamper? Yes please. Honestly, I’d be the best person to receive something like this, so I’m hoping I’ve done it justice for all the loved ones out there hunting for ideas.

There’s something so magical about pulling together a bundle of bookish bits that feel personal, thoughtful, and a little bit exciting. Whether you’re shopping for a seasoned reader or someone just beginning their bookish journey, this guide should help spark some inspiration. And maybe make you want your own hamper while you’re at it.

A tall rectangular collage titled “A Christmas Hamper Guide For… Book Hoarders” featuring four numbered sections of gift ideas. Section 1 shows a variety of popular fiction books and book box sets arranged in rows, including contemporary, fantasy, and mystery titles. Section 2 displays stationery items such as pens, highlighters, sticky notes, page tabs, washi tapes, and colourful markers. Section 3 presents different e-readers, including Kindle, BOOX, Veidoo, and Kobo models. Section 4 features assorted reading-themed gifts: a wooden page holder, a reading-tracker sign, a T-shirt with a bookish quote worn by a person, a butterfly-shaped book stand, floral notebook, magnetic bookmarks, festive book sleeves, a floral book-shaped vase with dried flowers, and a mug with a cute ghost design. 1. Books

Of course, books are deeply personal to the reader, but that’s half the fun. I’ve added a few images of popular picks, most-gifted favourites, and general crowd-pleasers to get the ideas flowing.

You could go with classics. They became “classics” not because someone slapped the label on, but because they stuck around. They’re the stories that keep finding new readers decade after decade, offering something fresh every time you revisit them. Their themes, love, loss, messy humans doing messy human things, feel just as relevant today as when they were first written. They’re the books that shaped whole genres and still spark conversations, which is what makes gifting them feel a bit special.

If you’re after something more contemporary, sprayed-edge editions or special editions are perfect, especially for newer releases that have taken off this year (adding names later!).

And then there are book series, arguably the star of any hamper. A whole world to dive into, wrapped up beautifully, and often discounted if you know where to look. A great option for avid readers who were likely going to collect them anyway!

2. Annotating Supplies

This section won’t be for everyone, but for the book lovers who annotate? It’s basically a personality trait. Annotating can look completely different depending on the reader. Some write straight into the margins, others prefer colour-coded sticky tabs, clear tabs with notes written on top, or little slip-in pages tucked between chapters.

If you’re assembling a hamper with annotating in mind, the right supplies genuinely make a difference. Not all pens work nicely with book paper, and nobody wants their thoughtful notes smudged across the page. Quick-dry inks, pastel highlighters, transparent tabs, pens that don’t bleed, and thin sticky notes all help keep the book looking tidy while still letting the reader express their thoughts.

These are a mix of supplies I personally use, bits recommended to me, and items I’ve seen other creators swear by. I’ll list them below so you can mix and match depending on the vibe you want the hamper to have.

3. Electronic Readers

Not everyone is a paper-and-pages reader, and that’s completely fine. Some people genuinely prefer an e-reader, whether that’s a Kindle, Kobo, Onyx, or another device available in your part of the world. If you choose to include an electronic reader, this will definitely be the main gift in the hamper, because let’s be honest, they’re not cheap.

But paired with a cute case (or two), a screen protector, maybe an e-book voucher, and a couple of accessories, you’ve got a really thoughtful gift hamper. It’s ideal for someone who reads on the go, travels often, or simply prefers carrying a whole library in one hand.

4. Accessories

This is the section where you can go absolutely wild. Think bookmarks, book sleeves, reading lights, book-themed T-shirts, bookends, “books I’ve read” trackers, bookish mugs…genuinely anything. You could build an entire hamper out of accessories alone, especially for someone who already owns all the books and gadgets.

Accessories also make wonderful smaller hampers, and they’re brilliant for someone just starting their reading journey. A few fun bits, a cute reading light, maybe a themed item from their favourite genre, and you’ve created a cosy little bundle that feels thoughtful without being over the top.

And that’s the Book Hoarders Christmas Hamper Guide.

Are you an avid reader? What would you recommend for a book hamper?

I’d love to hear them in the comments below. You can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, or Pinterest.

As always, thanks for reading…
