A Christmas Hamper Guide For… Artists & Crafters
Arts and crafts hampers are honestly one of my favourite gift ideas. If you know someone who is naturally crafty, always picking up a new project or talking about wanting to explore their creative side, this is the kind of hamper that really lands.
It works beautifully for hobbyists, for beginners who want to dabble in different mediums and even for people who simply enjoy quiet, hands-on activities that help them unwind.
What makes an arts and crafts hamper so lovely is how flexible and customisable it is. You can tailor it entirely to the person you are gifting it to, whether that means sticking to their favourite craft or giving them a mix of things that gently encourages them to try something new.

1. Traditional Art Supplies
Traditional art supplies are a wonderful foundation for any crafting hamper. They offer so much variety and give the recipient a chance to play with different mediums at their own pace.
Paints, canvases, sketchpad’s, textured papers, brushes and pencils all bring something a little different to the creative experience. One of the best parts about gifting these items is watching someone discover what they genuinely enjoy. They might realise they prefer the quick drying ease of acrylics or find themselves leaning towards blending oils. They could pick up both graphite and charcoal and learn within minutes which one feels right for them.
Art supplies also build up beautifully over time, so you do not need to go overboard in order to create a thoughtful hamper. A smaller selection can be just as exciting.
2. Art Sets
Craft sets are brilliant for anyone who wants to try something new without feeling overwhelmed. They offer structure, clear instructions and all the materials needed to complete a project. There are so many types available, including cross stitch, embroidery, punch needle, crochet, macramé, resin art, candle making, paint by numbers, jewellery kits, model building and even small pottery sets. This variety is what makes them perfect for hampers because they can suit absolutely anyone, no matter their age, experience or skill level.
Craft sets also come at a wide range of prices, making them flexible for any budget. You can include a fun mix of beginner kits for someone who enjoys experimenting, or take a more curated approach by selecting sets that help them progress in a single craft. For example, if they love cross stitch, you could include a beginner kit, an intermediate piece and a more detailed design that offers a little challenge. It is such a lovely way to support their skill development while still keeping the hamper fun.
3. Electronic Crafting
Electronic crafting definitely sits at the higher end of the price scale, but it is worth highlighting because these tools can completely transform a creative hobby. Items like vinyl cutting machines, heat presses, mini sewing machines, handheld printers, label makers, 3D pens and small pyrography tools all allow people to create polished, personalised projects. Many of these tools are used by small business owners, which makes them especially meaningful gifts for someone who has talked about wanting to turn their craft into something more.
This type of hamper is usually something you would give to a partner, close friend or family member, because it shows a deeper level of support. It says that you not only see their passion but you believe in what they could make with the right tools. Even within this category, there is a good range of price points, so you can choose something small and practical or something more substantial depending on your budget.
4. Art Storage
Art storage is one of the most overlooked but genuinely useful additions to a crafting hamper. Creative hobbies come with so many small bits and pieces, from brushes and pens to beads, thread, paints and all the half-finished projects waiting for their moment. After events like Christmas or birthdays, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the sudden increase in supplies, which is why storage makes such a clever and appreciated gift.
Practical containers with small compartments are perfect for jewellery makers and crafters who work with tiny materials. Stackable boxes are great for paint lovers or people who use lots of markers and pens. Portable cases make life easier for those who move their crafting between rooms or like to work outdoors. Even simple drawer organisers can completely transform someone’s creative space.
Including storage in a hamper shows real thoughtfulness because it supports the long-term use of the craft supplies rather than just the initial excitement.
