Streaming Services Galore

There are so many streaming services to choose from. With Halloween and the darker nights, I wanted to share my favourite films currently available for that perfect movie night. I decided to pick three for each service I have. One family friendly, one horror and one murder mystery.

Disney+

Hocus Pocus is a family-friendly Halloween film. It follows the story of three witches, resurrected in modern-day Salem, as they wreak havoc in their quest for eternal life. It’s up to a group of kids to stop the witches and save the town on Halloween night.

The Omen is a classic horror film. Eerie events surround Damien, a young boy who may be the Antichrist. When his adopted parents discover his sinister nature, they are drawn into a chilling battle against dark forces to prevent his rise to power.

Murder on the Orient Express is a murder mystery film based on Agatha Christie’s novel. It follows detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates a murder that occurs aboard The Orient Express train. With a diverse group of passengers as suspects, Poirot must unravel the complex web of clues to identify the killer.

Paramount+

The Addams Family (1991) introduces the ghoulish, yet delightful Addams family, who are forced to confront their long-lost relative claiming their inheritance, while navigating their bizarre and unconventional way of life.

Smile follows a disturbing and unexplainable incident involving a patient. As the horrors intensify and consume her existence, Dr. Rose must delve into her unsettling past to not only survive. But to also break free from the terrifying new reality that has ensnared her.

Clue, inspired by the classic bard game Cluedo, is an eerie turn of events. Six individuals, each burdened with a haunting secret from their past, receive invitations to an isolated mansion. Upon arrival, they are introduced to their mysterious blackmailer. As tensions mount, and the lights suddenly go out, the blackmailer is murdered. Now, the guests must race against time to unveil the killer’s identity before they all meet a grim fate themselves.

Netflix

Hotel Transylvania is an animated comedy where Dracula operates a secret, monster-only resort to protect his daughter, Mavis, from the human world. However, when a human stumbles upon the hotel, chaos ensues as Dracula tries to hide the truth.

Halloween Kills is the sequel in the latest Halloween movie trilogy. Michael Myers returns to Haddonfield to continue his reign of terror, prompting the town’s residents to unite in a desperate fight to stop him once and for all. As the body count rises, Laurie Strode, her family and friends confront the relentless evil that has haunted them for decades. With gruesome consequences.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a suspenseful whodunit film that follows renowned detective Benoit Blanc. Investigating a complex murder case within a wealthy and dysfunctional family. As secrets are unveiled and motives are questioned, Blanc must unravel a web of deception to uncover the truth.
