Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner // The August Review

I’d seen so many adverts and reviews for the Herbal Essences ranges, and after my mum was recommended them by a friend, I decided to try them myself. I picked up the Petal Soft Rose and Smooth & Shine Chamomile variants to see what all the fuss was about.

Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner – £5.99 – £6.99 RRP

The brand describes the rose shampoo and conditioner as:

Shampoo – “Our Rose Hips Smooth Shampoo is formulated with an infused blend of rose hips, vitamin E, and jojoba extracts to help condition hair for a soft, smooth end look.”

Conditioner –“Our Rose Hips Smooth Conditioner is formulated with an infused blend of rose hips, vitamin E, and jojoba extracts and deeply conditions and de-frizzes hair for a soft, smooth end look. It also helps restore hair’s natural shine.”

The brand describes the chamomile shampoo and conditioner as:

Shampoo – “Indulge your hair with Herbal Essences Chamomile Shine Shampoo with an infused blend of Chamomile, Aloe Vera and Passion Flower extracts to get brilliant shine and smoothness.”

Conditioner – “Our conditioner, with its meadow-fresh scent, gently conditions hair and leaves it looking healthy and shiny. This conditioner is cruelty free, mineral oil free, color safe, and pH balanced. This conditioner is good for fine hair, flat hair, straight hair, colored hair, and oily hair.”

Pros:

  • All products have very lovely scents.
  • Both shampoos lather really well.
  • Both shampoos also deep clean well without leaving my scalp dry.
  • Both conditioners help detangle hair.
  • Both conditioners leaves the hair soft and hydrated.

Cons:

  • If not on an offer, almost £14.00 for a shampoo and conditioner is steep when comparing to other products on the market.

The Verdict:

Overall, I really enjoy both the shampoo and conditioner from this range. The shampoo does a great job of properly cleansing my scalp and hair without leaving it feeling stripped, overly dry, or tangled. Which is something I always look out for. The conditioner has a lovely consistency too. Not overly thick or heavy, and enough to coat and smooth through my hair with ease. Both rinse out nicely, leaving no residue. And the scents are absolutely beautiful.

That being said, the biggest drawback for me is the price.

At nearly £14 for the pair when not on offer, it does start to feel less budget friendly. Especially considering there are other shampoos and conditioners out there that deliver similar results for my hair at a lower price point. While I do think this range performs really well and would happily choose it again, it’s one I’d only reach for when it fits within my budget.
