Dolls // Creator Edition

I have been seeing lots of Dolls on my TikTok for your page. It certainly inspired this week’s Creator Edition, as dolls have been a very popular since YouTube tutorials began! Some of these may be a flash from the past for you…

This is a vertical image, styled to look like a strip of vintage film negatives, featuring three different makeup looks inspired by dolls. The left side of the image features the title "Dolls // Creator Edition" in white, stylized font, placed over a dark, textured background.

The three makeup looks are presented in stacked, rectangular frames:

Top Look (Frame 1): A close-up of a person with blonde hair wearing very vibrant, "girly" makeup, likely inspired by a fashion doll or pop-culture figure. The look features bright pink eyeshadow blended up to the brow, dark winged eyeliner, and shiny, hot-pink lip gloss. The person is holding a pink mobile phone up to their ear and is looking off to the side with a bright expression.

Middle Look (Frame 2): A person with straight, platinum blonde hair wearing a highly detailed cracked porcelain doll or zombie doll makeup. The skin is painted a pale white, and dark, intricate lines are drawn across the face and neck to simulate shattered ceramic or decay. The eyes are entirely blackened with heavy, dark shadow to create a hollow, unsettling effect.

Bottom Look (Frame 3): A close-up of a person wearing a stitched-up ragdoll or voodoo doll makeup look. The face is painted with a coarse, burlap-like texture. The eyes are covered with large, white, button-like contacts or paint, each featuring a large black 'X' over the pupil. A wide, stitched-up smile is painted across the mouth, mimicking the seams of a fabric doll, complete with small black stitches. The person has short, black, spiked hair and what appears to be piercings around the mouth.

Jackie Wyers

I’ve featured Jackie Wyers on the blog before. She’s a Canadian content creator and professionally trained makeup artist known for her brilliant pop culture, vintage, and whimsical looks. She has a real talent for recreating styles that are both true to the original and effortlessly glamorous, making her work perfect for this doll look.

Barbie Doll

I’ve mentioned before just how brilliant Jackie’s tutorials are. She breaks everything down so clearly, explaining each step and why she’s chosen certain products. As part of this post I wanted to include a prettier doll look, to show that Halloween doesn’t always have to be about the scares.

While Jackie also has versions inspired by the movie, I decided to stick with the more traditional doll style. What I really appreciate about her tutorials is how she strikes a perfect balance between high-end and drugstore products. Making her looks accessible whether you’re on a budget or already have similar items in your collection.

She also takes things a step further in this tutorial, incorporating a wig and costume to complete the transformation. It’s that extra touch that makes her tutorials great to watch and recreate.

Alexys Fleming

This is the second time featuring Alexys (known on Youtube as MadeYewLook), for the Creator Edition too. Based in the US, her SFX makeup and body painting skills are truly next-level. She’s created countless character looks and themed series that really show off her artistry. Around Halloween, she often transforms into iconic horror figures from both film and folklore. Of course, she has done a few different doll looks.

Porcelain Doll

I was looking for a broken porcelain or china doll look that relied solely on makeup. No prosthetics or complicated layering, although Alexys is so well known for looks like that.

Many versions of this doll style can involve advanced techniques that not everyone feels confident trying, so I wanted something simple but still striking.

Alexys’s tutorial captures that balance perfectly. The way she draws on the cracks, shapes the doll’s features and uses dark eyeshadow instead of contact lenses makes the whole look accessible yet dramatic. It’s an ideal option if you need a quick transformation. Whether for a work event that lasts all day or when you’re short on time before heading out in the evening.

Goldie Starling

Angie Davis, better known online as Goldie Starling, is a talented makeup and fine artist from the US. She’s known for her incredible SFX tutorials and creative twists on well-loved characters, blending artistry with storytelling in every look. I actually first discovered Goldie back in her blogging days, when she shared her passion for makeup. It’s been amazing to see how far she’s come and how her artistry continues to inspire creators today.

Voodoo Doll

The voodoo doll feels like one of the most quintessential doll Halloween looks. It’s eerie, creative, and tied to many different Halloween tales. Goldie’s version captures that spooky charm perfectly. It’s a look that might take a little more patience, especially if you’re a beginner. But definitely one that can be achieved with time and practice.

What stands out most is how she uses burlap to mimic the doll’s stitched fabric skin. Tapping in the colours over the top and then blending to build depth in such a clever way. It gives the makeup that handmade look a doll can have.

The over exaggerated eyes and thick lashes tie the whole look together. They add just the right touch of creepy-cute energy and perfectly complement the drawn-on button eyes. It’s haunting, detailed, and unmistakably Halloween.

I hope these looks will make you feel like a doll.
