The Best Year So Far
It has been one year since I had my colon removed. To say it has been the best year so far is an understatement. I do have a post on my surgery, if you’d like to read it.
When I turned 30, I was starting my life again. I had a huge list and grand plans.
I did have to reign it in because I was still healing. But, what I have managed to accomplish this year is something I could never imagine before.
In a year I have:
- Found a stoma bag that works so much better for me.
- I saw my little cousin perform with her school choir.
- Spent more time with her and showed her some of our city’s history.
- Celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with neighbours and friends.
- Holidayed in Wales with family, and was able to leave the house.
- Visit amazing sites like Portmeirion, Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton.
- Enjoyed many meals out with friends and family.
- Tried new restaurants.
- Been able to eat foods I couldn’t before as they caused flare-ups.
- Celebrated birthdays.
- Travelled to different areas to shop and nose around.
- Took part in viral TikTok challenges like being a Ghost for Halloween.
- Been to the cinema.
- Started a new job that I love.
- Took part in more for Christmas.
- Dived deeper into ancestral research.
- Cooked more.
- Lost more weight.
- Had more independence.
- Lived with less anxiety.
- Visited the theatre.
A lot of these accomplishments may seem so insignificant to some. For me, they are things that were 10 years in the making. I love having this space to record everything. Because there are still days I cannot believe I can.
Here’s to more in the next year!
As always, thanks for reading…
