The 96th Academy Awards
The 2024 96th Academy Awards, more commonly known, as the “Oscars”, was another night of red-carpet glitz and glam. As always, I will be going through a handful of favourites from the night!
Emma Stone
Emma stunned in this mint green Louis Vuitton dress. Even though it broke just before her acceptance speech!
What you may not be able to see in this picture, is the delicate embroidered detailing across the fabric.
Pretty and elegant.
I like the small train for a dress like this, but the corset top into the mid-waist peplum skirt added a modern twist to this classic silhouette.
You expect lots of tulle and big gowns for an awards event like this. But the simplicity and subtle nod to the upcoming spring months worked.
Overall, the colour and cut suited her to a T. This is the best red carpet look Emma has worn.
Carey Mulligan
Dressed in Balenciaga this is a classic Oscars red carpet gown.
In my opinion, Carey was every bit of what “red carpet fashion” is.
The strapless sweetheart neckline, the brightness of the white tulle on the mermaid tail and over-the-elbow black gloves… even in velvet. Which is not a personal favourite.
This was my favourite look of the night.
I love the circular cuts in the black fabric as it stops the creation of a harsh black line. Adding length to Carey’s figure.
One thing I would implore you to do is watch Carey walk down the carpet in the dress. The swish movement was *heart eyes*.
America Ferrera
The Barbie actress and nominee for best supporting actress sparkled in this gorgeous Atelier Versace dress.
I love a Queen Anne Neckline, especially when paired with a shorter haircut or hairstyle.
It looked stunning on her and the pink suited her skin tone perfectly.
I like how this is so simple yet has lots of texture to it through all those individual gems.
It was the perfect choice as a last farewell to Barbie.
The only thing I would change is ditching the chunkier necklace. America has a beautiful smile and jawline. And I feel the necklace distracts from that a little.
Eva Longoria
If there is one thing that my girls and I agree on, is that Eva Longoria knows how to dress.
Turning heads in this Tamara Ralph and Bucherer gown, I was trying to figure out what you would call this. An off-the-shoulder or a boat neck neckline.
Whatever one you’d like to go with, the thicker shoulder straps with the pointed tops elevate this look.
Taking a simple silhouette and adding a modern twist. It seems to be a theme amongst these designers.
What caught my attention was the simplicity of Eva’s jewellery, how she kept her hair behind her shoulders and let the dress speak for itself.
A perfect look for an Oscar’s red carpet.
