Disney // Creator Edition

Back again with a new Creator Edition post, this time looking at some amazing Disney looks. If you didn’t know, the creator edition is where I put loads of different costume tutorials in one place. Showcasing some amazing talent.

Disney is a great go to for any costume event, but perfect for Halloween. There are just so many characters to choose from.

Kayleigh Ann Strong

Kayleigh is a self described full time fantasy fairy. A creator from the UK, she is a content creator and theatrical makeup artist. I first came across Kayleigh on TikTok and was blown away by her Disney Character recreations and transformation videos. I then come to find she is also and incredible singer.

Disney Characters in Tim Burton Style

After showcasing artists in the Tim Burton Creator Edition, I was so happy to see this series on Kayleigh’s TikTok page.

If you wanted to bring the spookiness of Halloween into Disney, but didn’t want to be a Halloween character, why not Tim Burton up a princess? This is a new series by Kayleigh and it is incredible. Elsa has become one of the most popular of the Disney Princesses and, I think, perfect to recreate in a Tim Burton fashion. Maybe because the blue reminds me of the corpse bride. I’m amazed at the effect you can create from shading and highlighting.

Half & Half Characters

You sometimes don’t know whether to go as one or the other with some duos! I love this Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie split.

With quick TikTok tutorials like this, Kayleigh has kept them simple and shown the steps clearly. Sometimes I find tutorials very helpful. Other times I find I am always going back over sections. Stopping and pausing. Then play the video again! When you have makeup out or body paint, it can be a bit of a jumble. The steps come round so quickly, yet clearly, I feel you can have it on loop as you do your makeup.

Disney Princesses As Their Villains

I’ve seen this concept done by many creators. Kayleigh brings that fun element by using viral TikTok trends. I chose this look in particular because Dr Facilier is so underrated as a Disney Villain!

I’m also in love with how glam she’s made the eyes. This is a great option for going on a night out. You can also get glow in the dark face paint. Which I think would be brilliant to do for the mask, as in the movie, you see it glowing in certain scenes.

Shay Rose

Known online as Crescent Shay, I came across an amazing TikTok series where Shay made a pair of Disney shoes based on Beauty and The Beast. A US based content creator, I’ve actually been follow Shay on Instagram for a while now. Always amazed at her talent and creativity.

Anastasia

Technically, a 20th Century Fox movie, but as they are owned by Disney, I’ve made Anastasia an official Disney Princess.

If you want to go all out and make a costume, this is one I’d have at the top of my list. Many content creators who talk about movie fashion are always so impressed with how close Anastasia got to the time period. Shay breaks her costume videos down into smaller chunks. Like Kayleigh, it makes it so much easier to follow along. I would say, Shay’s content isn’t for beginners. Having some knowledge of patterns and sewing would be needed!

Sofia The First

making a teenage sofia the first dress – basically what i think her dress would look like if she were 18 instead of 11 ✨💕 part 1: the skirts!

For those people with sewing knowledge, when I saw this costume, I knew it needed to be included!

With so many content creators out on the internet, I can only name a handful that either include their kids or take kids into account. Shay has shared a character that is so popular on the younger side of Disney+. Although she has made this dress for herself, there is no reason it cannot be adapted for a child. I always find there is so much interest from children wanting to look online like their parents or older kids / other adults in their lives do. To see content like this from Shay included in her portfolio is lovely. I think it can really be inspiring for someone of the younger generation.

Jessica Rabbit

@crescentshay

yall this costume takes me from an A cup to a DD CUP 😭😭 – this is how I made my Jessica Rabbit costume & faked her hourglass body shape! (this is a fake body) #diy #cosplay #jessicarabbit #sewing #halloween #halloweencostume #diycostumes #jessicarabbitcosplay

♬ Runaway Baby – Bruno Mars

Another production that is technically by Buena Vista, but acquired by Disney, so I’m having it.

When I think of Halloween, that Mean Girls quote, you know the one, always comes to mind. This is one of those costumes and I am here for it.

Jessica Rabbit is iconic. Her sass and look make her the perfect choice for Halloween. I would say this look is more suitable for a Halloween party. Because, I cannot imagine how sweaty you’d get with all that padding in a club! I also wanted to share this as it dawned on me, some who are looking for comic con or convention inspiration may look through Halloween posts. If that is you, I highly, highly recommend Shay. What she manages to recreate is incredible. The attention to detail in *chefs kiss*.

Stephanie Stokkvik

Stephanie Stokkvik is a brand new creator to me this year. I came across her Rapunzel video and that got me hooked! A Norwegian creator, Stephanie, is now (I believe) based in London and works as a makeup artist. Stephanie has made a few Disney-inspired videos, but also has characters from other popular franchises. It’s so cute how she incorporates herself into the movie at the beginning of some of the videos.

Rapunzel

This was my favourite princess tutorial Stephanie had on her channel. This is easy to follow and I really appreciate how she explains how what you are doing creates the effect for the character. I find it banks in my memory when I look at other characters or when I want to accentuate one of my features when doing day to day makeup.

I chose to share this video for the teachers. Some schools encourage teachers to dress up for Halloween. I find this is such a simple makeup look to do with either the long blonde wig like Stephanie has. Or, the shorter brown wig she has at the end of the movie. You may even have the hair style to not need either wig!

Aristocats

I have been doing a series called A Millennial’s Guide To Halloween Costumes. The costume part of this is something that would be perfect for that series.

The Aristocats is classic Disney for me. This lookbook of the three kittens includes how to do makeup to complement each outfit. There are not that many trio costumes or tutorials, which is one of the reasons I was so drawn to this. The other is all the work Stephanie puts into the video and the looks. Each one is 100% on point. Perfect for a Halloween pub night out, perfect for the club and lightweight for a day event. Stephanie is crazy talented.

Maleficent

It’s Halloween, so I had to include one of Stephanie’s villainous looks. When it comes to SFX makeup looks, or even just a hint of wax or putty, I become a jumble. This tutorial was so well explained. Gave great tips and used some really affordable products. Dermas wax can come in small amounts and, as you only need so little for this, it really impressed me. I am always trying to be as mindful as I can with these posts with the Cost-of-Living crisis.

The smoking eye shadow technique Stephanie used here I am hoping I can recreate as well just for a night out. It was stunning!

And that is the first post in this year’s Creator Edition, inspired by Disney.

As always, thanks for reading…
