My Top 24 Beauty Products Of 2024
Seeing as I was unable to do The August Review this year, I decided to put together my top 24 beauty products for 2024.
If you are new to my blog, I set up The August Review to highlight products I’ve been loving throughout the year. I used to do monthly reviews and first impressions, but this new series meant I could spend more time and seasons with the products. I think we forget how the weather can really affect what we reach for beauty wise. However… getting back into the blog post…
Instead of my usual pros and cons lists with my thoughts, I am just going to give my thoughts so this isn’t a massively long blog post. Kicking off with makeup…
1. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Mini Hydrating Primer Soft Silk
The brand says: “A lightweight hydrating makeup primer for normal to dry skin that instantly nourishes, with a silky-smooth formula that keeps skin comfortable all day while improving and extending foundation wear—now available in a mini”
After falling in love with the Fenty Pro Filt’r Foundation, I couldn’t resist exploring more from the brand. Earlier this year, I picked up their primer during a promotional offer, and it’s become a staple in my routine ever since.
This product truly delivers on its promises. Just a small amount is enough to create a beautifully smooth, hydrating base for foundation. It enhances the skin’s texture while effectively minimizing the appearance of pores, leaving a flawless base.
Although the primer is on the pricier side, it’s an absolute steal when snagged during an offer!
2. Laura Mercier Real Flawless Foundation
The brand says: “Re-define perfecting coverage with this multifunctional foundation to reveal a healthier-looking complexion. Featuring the Perfecting Color Technology to lift sallowness and dullness for cake-free, color-true wear. The Auto-Balancing Technology instantly hydrates for smoother skin and helps reduce shine throughout the day. This long-wearing foundation blurs the line between makeup and skin to reveal a healthier-looking complexion. The skin-loving formula provides perfecting medium buildable coverage so weightless, you’ll forget you’re wearing anything at all.”
Out of all the foundations I’ve tried (and there have been quite a few!), this one instantly earns a spot in my top three.
When they say it offers medium, buildable coverage that feels like skin, they mean it! It’s the lightest foundation I’ve ever worn, with a beautiful finish and a touch of subtle dewiness. The consistency is slightly runny, making it super easy to blend—whether you use a brush, sponge, or your fingers.
A brilliant foundation for everyday wear.
3. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer
The brand says: “Just 1 dot of this full-coverage, color correcting concealer is all you need to brighten, conceal and smooth dark eye circles, skin redness, age spots, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries and wrinkles.”
It Cosmetics has been all over TikTok, so of course, I had to try it too. Out of their lineup, the Bye Bye Under Eye concealer stood out as the product I needed most.
With poor sleep and feeling under the weather, this concealer was a must. When they say one dot, they mean it—I learned the hard way and wasted quite a bit on my first try! You don’t need much, but you do need to warm it up.
The thicker consistency feels a bit dry initially, but warming it between your fingers before applying makes all the difference. I use my finger to apply and follow up with a beauty blender for a flawless finish.
This concealer needs setting powder but stays put once in place. Even after crying during Bones (The Hole in the Heart episode, if you know, you know), it didn’t budge. Another staple product.
4. NYX Brow Glue 24H Extreme Hold Styler
The brand says: “Stick it to your brows! Our 1st instant brow styler with up to 16H extreme hold. This glue-like gel is transparent, flake-resistant, and dries down non-sticky with a natural finish! It’s quick & easy to apply: just brush on and style in place to create limitless brow-raising looks that actually stay.”
I’ve loved using the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara over the past couple of years. But when I ran out earlier this year and couldn’t find it in stock, I switched back to a pencil and needed something to set my brows.
Enter this brow glue—it’s next-level strong. Having glued my eyebrows down the drag way for Halloween looks before, I can confidently say this is even stronger.
It’s super sticky and mattifies quickly, so there’s definitely a learning curve. However, it’s worth mastering! Bonus points for the range of shades available, which is fantastic if you have bushier brows.
5. L’Oréal Paris Paradise Le Shadow Stick
The brand says: “Introducing NEW L’Oréal Paris Le Shadow Stick, a richly pigmented eyeshadow stick that glides on effortlessly and evenly. Transfer- and smudge-resistant, this creamy eyeshadow formula builds and blends easily for a smooth and even eye makeup application. With 10 matte and shimmer shades, you can create endless looks, from everyday chic to high-glamour.”
A new release that I’ve been using for about a month now, they’ve quickly become a new go to in my routine.
As someone with big, hooded eyes, creating eyeshadow looks can be a challenge. That’s why I love the simplicity these sticks bring to my everyday makeup. A quick swipe of colour, and I’m good to go!
The texture is very creamy, making them easy to blend, and they’re an absolute dream to work with. While the current shade range leans heavily on neutral tones, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it expand with the changing seasons. If you’re looking for something quick, effortless, and versatile, these eyeshadow sticks are worth a try!
6. Clomaná Beauty / Coco Cosmetics by Chloe
The brand says: “Blend it like a boss with the Clomana Beauty Marshmallow Set of Four. Inside you’ll find four super soft, easy to use and expandable beauty sponges all in the iconic Shape 2 to cater to all your makeup needs. Rounded to perfection, these latex-free sponges make it perfect for applying and blending your foundation, for a seamless, airbrushed finish.”
I picked these up quite a while ago, back when the brand was still known as Coco Cosmetics by Chloe. After seeing endless positive reviews on social media, I decided to go all in with the 4-pack.
Let me just say—they did not disappoint! These sponges are super bouncy and work brilliantly for all liquid products, including blush. They are what I reach for when I want a full coverage base. While they’re a bit big for applying concealer under the eyes, they’re perfect for everything else.
What really impressed me is how well they wash. They don’t seem to hold onto much product, which not only makes cleaning easier but also means I’m wasting less product overall. And the way they blend foundation? *Chef’s kiss*
7. Kimchi Beauty A Really Good Brush
The brand says: “Build a solid foundation with the Kimchi Chic Beauty A Really Good Brush. This high-density foundation brush made of extremely soft synthetic fibres buffs foundation into the skin seamlessly to provide flawless coverage that allows a good base for any other desired makeup that’s used. The best way to blend and buff!”
I picked up this brush along with the makeup sponges, and I’m so glad I did! While some foundations work better with sponges, this brush has yet to meet a foundation it doesn’t work with.
On lighter foundation days, when I still want a flawless finish, this brush is my go-to. The size is just right, the bristles are tightly packed but still flexible, and it feels gentle on my skin while buffing.
It picks up product effortlessly and works exceptionally well with BB creams. What really sold me, though, is the affordability—I even grabbed a second one to use for buffing in a light contour.
8. Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV Protection Mist SPF50
The brand says: “Protect and refresh skin with the Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV Protection Mist. Featuring an SPF50, the lightweight mist can be applied under or over makeup, offering protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Suitable for daily use, the spray boasts a non-greasy texture and an invisible finish, minimising the disturbance of your makeup. Enriched with hyaluronic acid, it helps to leave skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.”
SPF is non-negotiable—it’s something everyone should wear every day and reapply throughout the day. When I came across this product, specifically designed for easy top-ups, it went straight into my cart.
I’ve been using this for a couple of years now, whether I’m wearing makeup or not. During a period when medications made me extremely sun-sensitive, this SPF truly proved its worth.
No sunburn, no redness—it does its job perfectly. I remember one summer day when I reapplied it every hour over light makeup, and it didn’t smudge or disrupt my look. Plus, there was no dreaded white cast! With a product this effective and convenient, there’s no excuse. Wear your SPF, and protect your skin!
9. Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm
The brand says: “Reveal smooth, glowing skin from the start of your routine and effortlessly dissolve makeup, dirt, and oil with the PEG-free Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm. This balm-to-milky oil harnesses naturally-enzymatic, actively smoothing papaya to satisfy and gently resurface skin, creating the ultimate baby-soft canvas for skincare and makeup. The mix of exfoliating and calming papaya seed oil, papaya enzymes, papaya extract, and antioxidant-packed blueberry, leaves skin clean, bouncy, and glowing.”
I’m always on the hunt for a great balm cleanser, so after loving a few other Glow Recipe products, I couldn’t wait to try their cleansing balm—especially since I purchased it at 15% off!
First off, the scent is incredible. I usually like to pick up citrusy fragrances in skincare, but this balm completely won me over. It’s sweet, light, and absolutely perfect for a morning cleanse. The silky consistency is a dream to work with, too.
Whether you’re looking for a refreshing one-step morning cleanse or an absolute powerhouse product to take off the day, this does it all. It’s even a strong contender for tackling stubborn eye makeup, making it a versatile addition to any routine.
10. Curél Makeup Cleansing Gel for Dry, Sensitive Skin
The brand says: “Introducing the Makeup Cleansing Gel by Curél, a gentle face wash that lifts makeup and impurities from the skin without stripping away moisture. Created with those prone to dryness and sensitivity in mind, the pH-balanced gel is designed to remove all traces of the day while simultaneously protecting the ceramides found naturally in your skin, helping to minimise feelings of dryness post-cleanse. Pair with the Curél Foaming Facial Wash to complete your double cleanse.”
The Curél skincare line has become a constant in my routine, especially during times when I’ve had to take steroids. It’s my go-to for soothing, reliable care. So, when I spotted the gel cleanser back in stock at Boots—and on offer—it was a no-brainer to grab it.
This gel cleanser is thicker than any I’ve used before, and that’s what makes it so special. The texture is smooth and gentle, allowing me to work with it effortlessly. It leaves my skin feeling clean, hydrated, and soothed.
While it’s not my first choice for removing makeup, it’s perfect as a morning cleanse or second cleanse. It’s also my must-have when dealing with breakouts triggered by my chronic illness.
11. Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum : Ginseng + Retinal
The brand says: “Introducing our Revive Eye Serum: a powerful Korean eye cream designed to reduce wrinkles and revitalize the delicate eye area. This serum addresses the loss of protein, collagen, and hyaluronic acid by combining ginseng extract and retinol to enhance skin elasticity and brightness while minimizing irritation.”
I hadn’t placed an order with YesStyle in ages, and I was missing my RiRe Bubble Bubble Lip Mask, which is difficult to get elsewhere. When I saw the reviews for this eye cream and how popular it was, I thought, why not?
This is so lovely to use. A little goes a long way; it’s silky, non-greasy, and sinks into the skin under the eyes perfectly.
I feel it has brightened my skin a little, but I think my night cream has contributed to that more. The biggest change has been that it has smoothed and hydrated beautifully.
12. Sunday Riley 5 Stars Retinoid and Niacinamide Eye Serum
The brand says: “A targeted and gentle anti-aging treatment for the delicate eye area, 5 Stars is a wrinkle-fighting serum powered by a 6% retinoid complex and bioactive centella asiatica to support natural collagen production. 5 Stars is also balanced with poppy seed extract and ceramides to soothe, smooth, and nurture the eye area while olive oil and shea butter rehydrate for overnight restoration.”
I have gotten into Sunday Riley products over the last 18 months. I started by picking up the morning and night kits to try more of their range.
This has become my go-to night cream. It is on the thicker side and feels a little heavy when applying, but my gosh, it has brightened my under-eyes. I find that the collagen production aspect of this product is the best I have come across.
I’ve also found that the higher retinol percentage hasn’t affected my skin. With other retinol products, my skin has been very sensitive to a higher percentage, but I didn’t experience that with this one.
13. Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil
The brand says: “A next-generation retinol oil that boosts the look and feel of skin plumpness, while improving the appearance of wrinkles, redness, and pores for visibly younger-looking skin. Luna works throughout the night to deliver visibly youthful, luminous, even-toned skin in the morning. Trans-retinoic acid ester complex reduces the appearance of pores and wrinkles, while visibly improving the signs of premature aging: fine lines, uneven texture, age spots, dryness, and dullness. Balanced with blue tansy and German chamomile essential oils, both rich in soothing, blue azulene, visible redness and the signs of sensitivity are neutralized, for a calm, even-toned complexion.”
Another retinol product that I find hasn’t left my skin feeling sensitive. Being honest, this scared me. It’s a gorgeous but terrifying blue colour and I didn’t want to dye my skin! Don’t worry, that won’t happen.
On the runnier side, a little goes a long way and I ultimately didn’t realise I was coming into my night oil era. This combats any redness I have, especially after a nightly double cleanse. My pores are minimised and my skin hydrated. It is expensive on it’s own, but getting it as part of the night set, is a steal!
14. Sunday Riley ICE Ceramide Moisturising Cream
The brand says: “Ceramide-enriched moisturiser replenishes the skin with lasting hydration and strengthens the skin’s natural moisture barrier against environmental stressors responsible for premature aging. Skin stays smooth, balanced and ageless-looking throughout the day. Rich but lightweight, this dual action moisturiser uses beetroot and coconut extract to pull hydration into the skin, while ceramides, vitamin F, and pomegranate sterols strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier, sealing in moisture. Together, skin is glowing, baby-smooth, and deeply hydrated. Best for Normal to Dry Skin.”
I feel like the whole Sunday Riley night range delivers on its hydration promise, and this cream does not disappoint.
It has a non-greasy texture but is thicker in consistency. I found I needed to use more of this compared to my Curél moisturiser, but it’s still lightweight once it sinks in. This product has made me look at my beauty budget to have as a night moisturiser for the winter.
15. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
The brand says: “Discover a revitalised complexion by morning with Kiehl’s best-selling Midnight Recovery Concentrate. During sleep, the conditions are optimised for peak skin recovery, shielded from external aggressors. The replenishing formula works to support the skin’s natural overnight recovery process, revealing the look of a well-rested, restored appearance. The cult favourite formula works over time to reveal a more toned, radiant-looking complexion. The concentrate targets the visible signs of skin damage caused by poor sleep, to help improve the look of skin texture, boost radiance and reduce fine lines.”
This range smells incredible.
You may be thinking, doesn’t the Luna Oil you just added to the list do this? Yes, it can do some of the same things, but this is what I use when I have breakouts. I’ve found that the breakouts heal faster, and I don’t end up with scars or dark spots from picking.
This hydrates the skin, is soothing and plumping, and when paired with the face masks listed below, it’s my secret to waking up looking and feeling radiant.
16. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Omega-Rich Cloud Cream
The brand says: “Cocooning skin with a whipped, cloud-like texture, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Omega-Rich Cloud Cream delivers plumping hydration, summoning a smooth and radiant appearance as you sleep. The 98.6% naturally-derived night cream is infused with omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and a proprietary blend of botanicals, helping to supports the skin’s natural protective lipid barrier. Seeking to provide visible results in just seven nights, the antioxidant-rich formula transforms complexions from dry and dull to supple and luminous.”
This does have a “whipped, cloud-like texture.” What I love most is that it delivers on all its promises.
I do have more supple and luminous skin after use, and I didn’t see the results after seven nights; I saw them after five.
Another moisturiser with a non-greasy texture, it is thicker in consistency, and you can definitely feel it on your skin. Although you know it’s there, I find I sleep better after using it. It is just so calming.
17. Skin Rocks The Gentle Acid
The brand says: “This gentle acid toner works hard to deliver the power of exfoliation, without the irritation. Powered by a blend of alpha-hydroxy and polyhydroxy acids (AHAs and PHA) and skin-conditioning ingredients, this next-generation exfoliating toner provides a comfortable exfoliation experience without compromising on results. This sophisticated formula visibly evens skin tone, reduces hyperpigmentation, minimises the appearance of visible pores and refines skin texture, all whilst respecting your skin barrier. Skin-soothing and hydration-boosting actives work in harmony with the acids to moisturise the skin, altogether revealing a hydrated, smooth and radiant complexion with minimal irritation.”
I have followed Caroline Hirons for years, and she is the reason I know what to look for and reach for when it comes to my skin.
When she launched Skin Rocks, I was waiting for a product like this. I have had some great toners and acids over the years, but I’ve never had one I could consistently use. With this one, I can.
I find that as the weather changes, I need to change my acid, which I always thought could be due to the glycolic percentage not being strong enough. I didn’t have that issue with this one by Skin Rocks. It smooths, moisturises, minimises pores, and doesn’t irritate, no matter the weather.
18. Biodance Bio Collagen-Real Deep Mask
The brand says: “Healthy and hydrated skin = happy skin so haul the Biodance Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask x 4. Enriched with oligo-hyaluronic acid, these masks deeply penetrate the skin to deliver intense hydration and boost moisture retention. Infused with ultra-low molecular collagen, these masks help improve the look of enlarged pores, enhance elasticity, and noticeably smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Powered by three probiotics, these hydrating masks strengthen the skin barrier to combat ageing and increase resilience for a firmer and younger-looking complexion. Formulated without harsh ingredients and allergens, these hypoallergenic hydrogel masks safely nourish sensitive skin types without irritation. They really do tick all your boxes.”
This is a more recent purchase, yet it quickly became a favourite face mask. I don’t think my skin has ever looked better first thing in the morning!
I had seen these all over TikTok and was unsure, as the people using them already had really nice skin. But they really do give you that plump boost and radiant glow. I’ve been pairing them with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate for an extra boost. A lot of people sleep in these masks, and they are very comfortable to do so. The only downside is that they are so popular, finding them in stock can be a challenge.
19. AMELIORATE Transforming Clarity Body Spray
The brand says: “A Body Spray to help prevent breakouts on blemish prone bodies. When dead cells collect on the skin’s surface, this can trigger congestion, dirt and bacteria to collect causing the skin to become prone to imperfections, blemishes and dullness. The 360⁰ nozzle is specifically designed to target those hard to reach areas of concern.”
I really like the Murad Clarifying Body Spray, but the price tag isn’t always budget-friendly.
I asked in Caroline Hirons’ Skincare Freaks Facebook group if this product was any good, and Caroline herself gave it the thumbs up.
This give me the same amazing results.
I get breakouts on my upper chest and back during the summer months. This not only tackles them but like with the Murad product, it is so much easier being in a spray bottle.
The product dries fast, isn’t sticky, and doesn’t transfer when getting dressed. It only takes a few days to see results. I will say I applied this more frequently than the Murad spray, which I believe has aided the speed of the results. But at £13.00 compared to £42.00, you cannot go wrong with this product.
20. The INKEY List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick
The brand says: “The INKEY List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick is designed to minimise the look of dry skin and pigmentation for a smoother feel. Ideal for skin experiencing texture, discolouration or dullness, the body stick helps to visibly improve body skin concerns that 9 out of 10 people experience. Formulated to help with rough skin and body breakouts, the body exfoliator works to visibly improve skin concerns within seven days. 7% glycolic acid (AHA) exfoliates the skin while lending a brightening effect. Salicylic acid (BHA) helps to target body breakouts and trapped hairs by visibly decongesting pores. Enriched with nourishing shea butter, the body stick leaves skin feeling comfortable after exfoliating with a burst of soothing moisture.”
Another new product I added to my routine in the last few months. I have dark underarms, and if you’ve followed my blog or read any previous reviews, you’ll see I’ve tried all sorts of solutions to tackle them.
This is by far the best product I have used. I respond well to Glycolic Acid, so please follow the instructions if you are new to the ingredient.
I was able to start using this every day, and within two weeks, I saw some really good results. Now, a few months later, they are looking much better. Dark underarms won’t be something you can permanently get rid of with an over-the-counter product, but I feel so much more confident.
21. Wild Body Wash
The brand says: “This is body wash in a 100% plastic-free, compostable refill. Our innovative technology eradicates the need for single-use plastic from your bathroom. Unlike other plant-based bottles our refill does not use a plastic liner. It is made completely of plants and will break down in your compost heap.”
Wild is one of those brands that I just see everywhere. I didn’t know if the ads were suggesting I smell or that I’m not eco-friendly. I do recycle!
But over the year, they had some amazing offers, and I couldn’t pass up the shower gel when I saw the Cherry Blossom scent.
This leaves your skin feeling so soft. It’s the body wash I always want to reach for, and the scent lasts too.
Since purchasing, I’ve come to love the Honey and Almond and Orange Blossom scents. I also love the reusable tins; they come in some gorgeous colors and designs.
22. Wild Deodorant
The brand says: “Made with a mission to reform the throwaway culture of everyday essentials once they’re empty, Wild showcases its planet-friendly Deodorant and housed in a refillable aqua case. Made from durable aluminium, the sleek case is designed to be reused for life. The plastic-free deodorant block is enriched with botanical actives such as coconut oil and shea butter to nourish and hydrate the skin, while magnesium hydroxide protects from odour-causing bacteria for a long-lasting fresh feel. Gentle on the armpits yet potent at preventing excess sweat, simply replace your empty deodorant cartridge with a refill once used.”
I also picked up the deodorant along with the body wash, and this is a game-changer.
As I mentioned above, I am trying to tackle dark underarms, and some ingredients in aerosol deodorants can aggravate that. Switching to these has helped a lot. I actually picked up an aerosol deodorant over Christmas while waiting for a delivery, and that darkness flared up again.
I also find I have really smooth underarms and fewer ingrown hairs. I’m also using The Inkey List Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick under my arms, and I think they’ve become a perfect combo. The scent lasts, and even when I sweat, I still smell nice.
23. IQ Intelligent Haircare Serum
The brand says: “Everyone needs a bit of discipline now and again. It’s the same with your hair. IQ’s Hair Serum 75ml, enriched with amazing Amaranth seed extract provides you hair with greater control. Aiding detangling and giving greater manageability, IQ’s Hair Serum also offers an anti-frizz effect in humid environments. Sunflower Seed Oil High in Omega-9 helps to prevent brittle hair and control your frizz by tackling dryness and damaged hair. Rosemary leaf extract aids in stimulating hair follicles to encourage hair growth and reduce hair shedding.”
My friend and hairdresser recommended this product and I haven’t look back. The ends of my hair are so dry, and I often get frizzy.
I don’t use a lot of heat, I’ve stopped straightening my hair as much, and I’ve switched up my shampoos and conditioners, but I still faced these issues.
Well… not as much anymore, and it’s because of this hair serum.
I’m someone who doesn’t use much, if any, product in my hair because I find it feels heavy and harder to work with than freshly washed hair. This serum can be used sparingly, as a little goes a long way. I don’t even notice it in my hair. It doesn’t create any crispy or thick textures, and my hair doesn’t get greasy or oily more quickly after use.
My hair is silkier, glossier, and I look more put together.
24. JVN Nurture Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner
The brand says: “Give dry hair a drink of deep hydration with JVN Nurture Hydrating Shampoo. This luxurious shampoo gently cleanses while infusing hair with moisture and essential nutrients. Formulated with aloe vera, known for its hydrating properties, this shampoo helps to quench dryness and leave hair feeling soft, smooth and manageable. JVN Nurture Hydrating Shampoo nourishes hair with a blend of beneficial ingredients. Panthenol, also known as pro-vitamin B5, helps to strengthen hair and improve elasticity, while camellia seed oil adds a touch of shine and helps to smooth frizz. The unique formula of this hydrating shampoo is designed to deliver long-lasting hydration, leaving hair feeling healthy and looking radiant. With continued use, experience softer, smoother and more manageable hair that’s full of bounce and shine.”
This was such a splurge purchase, but it was absolutely worth it. I had been eyeing JVN Hair for a while, especially after experiencing more hair loss than usual following my proctectomy surgery last July. When I saw this in the Cult Beauty Black Friday offers, I couldn’t click “add to cart” fast enough!
I chose the moisture range, as hydration is always a priority for me, especially with long hair. To say I absolutely love this product, isn’t enough. I scraped every bit out of the containers and am gutted that it’s all gone now.
It was incredibly hydrating, made my hair smoother, easier to detangle, shinier, and overall, it felt cleaner. It might sound crazy, but even though my hair was clean after washing, this took it to a whole new level. I can’t wait for it to be on offer again!
And those are my favourite 24 beauty products of 2024! I feel that since I became unwell, I am starting to feel more like myself and getting back into beauty.
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter / X, Instagram or Pinterest for more blog posts.
As always, thanks for reading…
