For this look, I decided to forgo wearing a wig since my hair is already dark brown. I bought a long-sleeved orange T-shirt for £3.99 on eBay.
Putting The Look Together
I started by applying primer and concealer to my eyes as a base. Like the other Sanderson sisters, Mary has a smoky eye, but she uses dark brown instead of just black. I applied black eyeshadow as eyeliner and smoked it out, then lined my top and bottom waterlines with black eyeliner, finishing with lengthening false lashes and mascara.
This time, I skipped powder under my eyes as the concealer creased. Instead, I cleaned up any fallout with a makeup wipe. After priming my face, I used the full-coverage foundation routine I learned from Nikkitutorials. I applied Makeup Revolution stick foundation all over, then buffed in L’Oreal foundation with a damp beauty sponge. I chose Revlon foundation for a pale matte finish, touched up with concealer, and set everything with Studio London translucent powder.
Though brows aren’t my strength, I filled them in with a Tony Moly brow pencil. I applied a generous amount of blush using a mix of two bright pink shades from a Makeup Revolution palette, referencing photos for accuracy.
Mary’s bright red lips were perfect with L’Oreal Lip Paint, and I used black eyeliner to create her signature mole beside her lips.
Since I didn’t use a wig, I backcombed my hair into a loose high bun, shaping it with a comb to achieve a pointed look. Though it turned out more like a messy updo, I skipped the cape since Mary’s hair is her signature feature.
Do you prefer inspired looks or to go all out with costumes?
I had so much fun putting this look together and I’m looking forward to posting the others I have planned. I’d love to see if you too will be doing a makeup look from The Hocus Pocus movie, you can find me on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter / X or comment below!
As always, thanks for reading…
Lovely job Hannah! That mole really adds the perfect finishing touch of detail necessary to replicate the original look! I think you captured the essence of Mary Sanderson extremely well.
I like both inspired looks and all out costumes, both are lovely in different ways.
