Weleda Skin Food Light // The August Review
It’s another moisturiser for today’s The August Review, the Weleda Skin Food Light. I have been trialing moisturisers recently and this surprised me…
Weleda Skin Food Light – £13.50
The brand describes the product as:
“A lighter – but no less hydrating – iteration of the best-loved Skin Food, Skin Food Light brings immediate comfort to dry, thirsty skin that’s in need of a cooling, replenishing drink. Intensive care that sinks in easily, Skin Food Light boasts a medley of softening, strengthening, smoothing and barrier-boosting botanicals – including sunflower seed oil, shea and cocoa seed butters, rosemary extracts and chamomile – to supplement skin’s own defences while ‘locking in’ moisture to maximise ‘spring’ and resilience. Silky, non-greasy and swiftly absorbed, this tube is a true handbag hero – as well as a pocket-sized sidekick – to care for chapped, compromised hands, scaly elbows or anywhere needing attention.”
Pros:
- It is light.
- Affordable.
Cons:
- Smell can be quite overhwelming.
- Stickier consistency.
- Pills on the skin.
- Doesn’t sit well under SPF or makeup.
The Verdict:
When I said this surprised me, it unfortunately was not in a good way. Skin Food is one of those products I had on my list to try. I didn’t know they have a lighter version of their moisturiser. So I was excited to try it out when coming across it on Cult Beauty.
If you do not like scented products, this is not for you. I find the scent quite strong for first thing in the morning. The consistency was stickier than other moisturisers I’d used, but it did glide onto the skin. When it had sunk in, I went in with my SPF and found it pilled on the skin. Thinking it just needed more time to sit, I waited longer the next day. Same thing happened. I found one day, when working from home, that it just started to pill on my face when rubbing. I hadn’t used SPF, and I hadn’t put makeup on. When I wiped my forehead, there were bits all over my hand.
I was really disappointed with this after hearing good things. It was just, unfortunately, one of those products that didn’t work for my skin.
As always, thanks for reading…
