12 Days Of Christmas Book Tag // Bookmas Day 2
Day two of Bookmas! I wanted to do something fun, and when I saw this 12 Days Christmas Book Tag on a few blogs it was a no-brainer. From what I can find, this was originally started by BookTuber Lizzie Loves Books.
1. A Partridge in a pear tree: Favourite Stand-Alone Book?
My all-time favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. I reread it every year. I feel like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are the original enemies-to-lovers couple
2. Two Turtle Doves: Fictional OTP/Favourite Ship?
I don’t think I have a favourite OTP ship, but I would say my favorite type of ship is enemies-to-lovers.
3. Three French Hens: Favourite Trilogy?
I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Have I ever read a trilogy?’ (As I have a few on my bookshelf staring at me). Many of them either have more than three books or have expanded in recent years. Then I remembered The Land of Ingary trilogy. I was recommended these after watching Howl’s Moving Castle as a teen (thank you, Misha). I love these books. I’ve actually started collecting the special editions FairyLoot has been releasing.
4. Four Calling Birds: Favourite Fictional Beast/Creature?
I love dragons. Any book with a sassy and sarcastic dragon is the best. I don’t know if it’s because of my Welsh heritage or because I grew up loving medieval fantasy. Books that come to mind are, of course, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Eragon series, and The Hobbit.
5. Five Golden Rings: Show 5 Golden Books
This was difficult! I had to go through and check because some books are known for specific covers, and I like to buy special editions. So I decided to pick books I’ve read or really want to read that have gold on them or have ‘golden’ in the title.
So, in the images above, we have Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs, The London Seance Society by Sarah Penner, Watership Down by Richard Adams, and The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell.
6. Six Geese a Laying: Rotten egg- What’s your least favourite book?
Pulling from last year, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse is my least favorite book. This world classic, meant to guide readers towards inner peace and enlightenment, left me with more questions than answers.
7. Seven Swans a Swimming: Show a Book with Water on the Cover
The Only One Left by Riley Sager (Pictured Above), was my first introduction to Riley Sager and it is not only my favourite book by him so far, but one of my favourite thrillers.
8. Eight Maids a Milking: What fictional food do you wish you could taste?
Immediately, I thought of many fantasy or historical romance books that had these massive feasts. But this year, I read Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison and the main character Layla owned her own bakery. I ended up ordering in lots of cakes and sweet treats when reading that because it made me so hungry.
9. Nine Ladies Dancing: Favourite dance between two characters?
I don’t have a favourite dance between two characters from a book. But, to go with “ladies dancing”. The scene in Chapter 3 of Little Women, where Meg and Jo attend a party and dance, is one of my favourite moments from the book.
10. Ten Lords a Leaping: Favourite Book-To-Movie-Adaptation?
Although I adore the Lord Of The Rings movies, I feel there is such a special space in my heart for the Harry Potter movies. They are just any time of year, cosy watches. Never bore me or feel repetitive and are a testament to the excellence of British filmmaking.
11. Eleven Pipers Piping: Favourite Book-To-Movie-Adaptation Soundtrack?
The Pride and Prejudice (2005) movie soundtrack is a lovely choice for working or reading. The track ‘Dawn’ is particularly beautiful and can be played on repeat.
12. Twelve Drummers Drumming: It’s the end of the song; what’s your favourite book ending?
I’m a sucker for a happy ending. But to go with the festive season I of course have to mention A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It’s such a classic lesson on the meaning of Christmas.
And that was my take on the 12 Days of Christmas Book tag! I would love to know, do you agree with any of my picks? If not, what would you have chosen instead?
